I decided to list some link building tips since the techniques used for link building has changed a lot over the years. Many techniques that were effective just a few years ago no longer work as well as they once did. It can be quite overwhelming trying to keep up with the latest link building methods, and my hope is that these tips will help you stay on the right track.

Listed below are my favorite link building tips:

* Whenever possible, get one-way links instead of reciprocal links, which no longer provide much benefit to your site. Search engines simply do not give much weight to reciprocal links anymore, so your time is better spent pursuing one-way links. Buying links at sites like Text Link Ads is probably the easiest way. Another tactic is to use software like SeNuke, which automates the building of one-way links.

* If you have the money to purchase a listing in the Yahoo Directory, then by all means get listed. Unfortunately the cost of getting listed with Yahoo is high, currently costing $299/year. But if you can afford it, this one listing will give you a lot of link juice.

* Submit your site to the Open Directory (aka Dmoz). After Yahoo, this directory is the best place to be listed. The good thing is that it is free, unlike Yahoo. However, getting listed can take a lot of time, so you should resubmit every few months if you don't get listed.

* Submit articles to article directories. Article marketing takes time and work, and can get tedious, so using automated tools will faciliate your article marketing greatly. Some good software for article marketing are SeNuke and Magic Artice Submitter, among others. Many marketer also outsource their article marketing.

* Get links from Web 2.0 sites. The only automated tool I have found for doing this is SeNuke. If you do it manually, focus on popular Web 2.0 sites like Squidoo or Hubpages. Add content to these sites, and make sure your content includes at least 2 or 3 links back to your site.

* Bookmark your site at top social bookmarking sites. This is another task that is repetitive and easy to burn out on, so once again, make sure you either outsource this or use an automates social bookmarker. Some popular tools for this are SeNuke and Bookmarking Demon, among others.

* Make some videos and put them up on Youtube as well as other video sites. Youtube allows you to post a link in your video description, providing you with a great opportunity to link back to your site from a high-profile site like Youtube. If you are not sure how to create videos, try recording yourself doing a powerpoint presentation. Screen capture programs like CamStudio make this relatively easy to do.

It is not necessary to use all of these link building tips, but if you do a few of these tasks for each webpage on your site, you should see a jump in traffic over time.
